Challenge Cup finalists Huddersfield Giants are to release five players at the end of the season, including 3 who played in the defeat to St Helens.

Michael De Vere, Jim Gannon and Wayne McDonald all featured in the 42-12 loss at Twickenham 2 weeks ago.

Paul March and Jon Grayshon will also leave the club.

"In an ideal world, I would have loved to have given them all new contracts, but I'm afraid that wasn't an option," said coach Jon Sharp.

Stuart Donlan, Stuart Jones, Bolu Fagborun, Paul Reilly and Albert Torrens – the other Huddersfield players out of contract – are in talks about new deals.
