Hakim Miloudi is relishing the opportunity to play a variety of positions this pre-season with Barrow.

The France international re-signed with the newly-promoted Championship club for the 2022 campaign, having originally joined them last season.

His side opened their pre-season schedule with a win over Workington at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium. Miloudi was named in the halves by head coach Paul Crarey, with the absence of Jarrod Sammut.

New signings Sam Brooks, Anton Iaria, Danny Langtree, Ellis Gillam and Ethan Kelly made their first appearances for Barrow against Workington.

Miloudi crossed for a try in the clash, with his side claiming a 24-12 victory at home.

Miloudi enjoying versatility

He said: “I’ve played half-back, full-back too. I like it because you touch the ball a lot.

“The ball needs to go through you. I know sometimes I try to produce too much magic!

“I think I played [the position] well [against Workington]. But I need to do some things better, but I really like it.”

The Raiders return to their pre-season schedule this weekend with a home test against Newcastle Thunder.

Former Wakefield hooker Josh Wood has been named in the club’s 22-man squad. Jarrod Sammut could also be in line to make his first appearance for Barrow.

Miloudi glad to be back

“I can’t wait to play again. We’re just happy to all be back together,” Miloudi said.

“Hopefully Josh Wood, Jarrod Sammut, [Jarrad] Stack and [Nathan] Mossop will be back.

“It’s going to be good back playing altogether with the new signings.

“I’m hoping we can have a good, strong team this weekend.”
