Featherstone have snapped up young centre Ben Hellewell from Warrington on a two-year deal.

Hellewell, 20, has spent time on loan with York this season, scoring one try in seven games, but failed to make a first team appearance for the Wolves.

Rovers Head Coach Daryl Powell said: “Ben is an exciting young talent, physically he is has the right attributes, he is tall, rangy and athletic. He is a player with Super League qualities and ability. He hasn’t played there yet, but he certainly will do in the future and hopefully that will be with Featherstone Rovers.”

Hellwell is a Scotland international, and originally came through the ranks at Bradford.

He added: “I’m really looking forward to joining Featherstone Rovers for the next two years. Rovers are a highly ambitious club who are making great strides both on and off the field, so this was an easy decision to make. Daryl Powell is a fantastic coach and I think under Daryl and Ryan Sheridan my game will improve.”
