Fairbank keen to play against parent club on Magic Weekend

Bradford prop Jacob Fairbank is relishing the prospect of facing his parent club when he lines up against Huddersfield on Sunday.

The on-loan forward, 23, made his Bulls debut in Friday’s win at Salford and is hoping to play a part against the Giants at 2013’s Magic Weekend.

Fairbank said: “I was asked if I wanted to play in this one and I put my hand up for it straight away.

“It’ll be strange but it’ll be good at the same time. I really enjoyed my debut on Friday and it was great to get the win. It was a good first hit-out.”

Fairbank has made only a handful of Super League appearances for Huddersfield and has the likes of Eorl Crabtree, Stuart Fielding and Craig Kopczak ahead of him in the pecking order at the John Smith’s Stadium.

He said: “I was getting a bit stale at the Giants and this has given me a boost. The lads in the Huddersfield team are playing well, so I can’t argue with not getting in. If they were struggling, I’d have to ask some questions, but they’re playing well.”

Bradford face Huddersfield in Sunday’s 17.15 encounter at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
