David Hodgson stays on as Hull KR assistant

Hull KR assistant David Hodgson has signed a new one-year contract with the club.

The 38-year-old will enter his sixth consecutive campaign as a number two and will continue to work under head coach Tony smith during 2020.

He is joined by Willie Poching in backroom staff, who returns to the club following a three-year absence.

Smith said: “Having Dave re-signing at the club is good news for me, the club and the players.

“He is well respected and is a very competent coach. He is young, enthusiastic and has a bright future in coaching.

“He really relates to the younger guys and the experienced blokes respect him too. Anyone that has been around Hodgo or seen him play, will have seen the way that he carries himself. There is that respect given straight away.

“I had the pleasure to coach David earlier in his career so I had a heads up as to what kind of person he is, but seeing him on the training field confirmed that to me.”
