Daryl Clark: We are only going to get better

Drew Darbyshire

Daryl Clark is pleased that Warrington’s work on their expansive attack in pre-season is paying off.

The Wolves came up with an impressive 19-0 win over champions St Helens at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Thursday night to claim their first victory of the season.

Clark said: “It was a good performance from us but we were under no illusions that they had a few quality players missing.

“We can only play what is in front of us but we had a few key players missing as well so we are only going to get better.

“We felt we were a bit conservative last year and we didn’t really play much expansive football so we have worked on that a bit in pre-season and hopefully we can keep building on our combinations and get better as the year goes on.

“Matty Ashton has been awesome for us since he came. He has been a good find and hopefully he can keep improving for us as well.

“It was good to get the win after losing last week so it was good to get the monkey off our back.”
