Daniel Anderson names Exiles team

Daniel Anderson has named his Exiles team that will face England on Saturday.

Brett Hodgson has been named at fullback despite suffering from a hamstring injury last week in Warrington’s match against Leeds. He will captain the side, taking over from Danny Buderus who returned to the NRL at the end of last season.

Scott Dureau makes his first ever representative appearance at alongside Wigan’s Thomas Leuluai.

Lance Hohaia has been selected to play at hooker, while he is joined by St Helens team mates Francis Meli, Tony Puletua, Sia Soliola and Anthony Laffranchi.

David Fa’alogo joined the squad this week after several squad withdrawals through injury, and has been named as part of a five-man bench which will be cut down to four on the day of the game.

Exiles coach Daniel Anderson said it had been a tough week for the squad.

He said: “We’ve had our little bumps and hurdles obtaining an 18-man squad. It’s been difficult with injuries and unavailable players. We have settled on a squad which has come together really well.

“We have a strong forward pack and a strong bench. I will still have to think about our rotations and positional plays, but in general we will be led by some fairly intelligent rugby league players.”
