Storm Eunice: Which fixtures are on and off?

Wigan have confirmed that their game against Leeds tonight (Friday) is still going ahead as planned despite the effects of Storm Eunice.

An amber weather warning has been issued for strong winds across the north west.

A Warriors club statement said: “We advise all fans to travel carefully and arrive to the ground early as queues are expected around the DW Stadium.

With winds of up to 90mph expected, a number of football and rugby union matches over the weekend have already been postponed.

Schools up and down the country have closed early and the travel network has been impacted too; with the Humber Bridge being closed for only the fourth time in 40 years.

There are three Super League games scheduled for Saturday – including Channel 4’s latest live game, as Hull entertain St Helens.

Hull confirmed to Love Rugby League that there are no doubts over that game, and it will go ahead.

Catalans welcome Wakefield to France, while Huddersfield are at home to Hull KR.

Huddersfield chief Ken Davy told the club’s official website: “While there is no doubt that the game will go ahead, we are mindful that some of the plans for outside the Stadium may be affected by the weather.”

A fanzone including a festival, DJ and an X Factor star has been arranged for the John Smith’s Stadium.

There are two Saturday games in the Championship too – as Newcastle entertain Whitehaven and Featherstone host London.

Featherstone say they are expecting the game to go ahead, but will keep under constant review; while Newcastle have no concerns.

On Sunday, Salford welcome Toulouse and there are four Championship fixtures scheduled.

Championship games postponed

Bradford were due to welcome Barrow to Odsal on Sunday, but the game has been called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

A Bulls statement read: “Despite the best efforts of our grounds team in the midst of Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice, the pitch has been deemed to be unplayable following an official RFL pitch inspection this afternoon. Details regarding a date for the rearranged fixture will be communicated in due course.”

Batley’s clash against Sheffield has also been postponed following an RFL pitch inspection. Details regarding the re-arranged fixture will be made in due course.

Workington’s home clash with Halifax has been postponed on Sunday morning.

Just one game remains this afternoon in the Championship as York host Leigh.
