Chase is on for Rangi

test

Rangi Chase appears to be at the centre of a North-West transfer battle.

Chase, 27, has been linked with a host of moves away from Castleford in the last couple of seasons, but now it seems his destination will either be Salford or St Helens.

The Kiwi-born England interational has been in magical form this season and his performance against Wigan on Friday was typically sublime, as he led the Tigers to an 18-4 victory.

It is this kind of talent that has left Salford owner Marwan Koukash undeterred by a previously failed bid, and he has promised to do all he can to get his ‘top target’.

However, Saints are also very interested in Chase, and although they cannot throw as much money into a deal as the Reds, they can offer him the chance to pair up with the incoming NRL star Luke Walsh in the half-back positions.

Chase and Walsh as a partnership is a mouthwatering prospect and it would go a long way to making Saints a real force to be reckoned with again, after a couple of poor seasons for the five-time Super League champions.
