Centurions retain Dawson

Leigh Centurions have confirmed Matty Dawson as the latest member of their 2018 squad as they attempt to regain Super League status at the first attempt.

The 26-year-old winger was the Club’s top try-scorer in 2017, scoring 15 tries in 31 games and has scored 24 tries in 39 games since arriving from St Helens for a five figure transfer fee in July 2016.

Leigh Centurions head coach Neil Jukes said: “I am delighted to keep hold of Matty. He has missed only one game since he joined the Club which demonstrates the high level of consistency in his own performances.

“He looks after himself away from the Club and works hard on his own game, while buying into the integrity of the team performance which is really important. I am looking forward to Matty being part of the team next season as we aim to get back our Super League place.”

Matty Dawson said: “Getting promoted to Super League with Leigh Centurions in 2016 was one of the high points of my career so far. I’m made up to be staying and I’m going to do everything I can to get us back to where we belong.”
