A blistering first half by Leeds was enough to see off the Catalans Dragons at Murrayfield in the penultimate game of the Magic Weekend.

Brent Webb thought he had put the Rhinos ahead early on, but his score was ruled out after a knock on was spotted as Leeds stole the ball. The made sure of the first points just a few inutes later when a Sinfield cross field bomb was caught by Ryan Hall, although the Leeds winger looked offside at the time of the kick.

The lead was doubled 6 minutes later when Buderus scooted from the play the ball and fed Rob Burrow, who scored under the posts. David Ferriol then tried an illegal ball steal when the tackle was complete and from the resultant tap penalty, Jamie Peacock added another score.

Jamie Jones-Buchanan then made a blistering break before setting up Brent Webb to score his first and straight from the kick off, Ali Lauitiiti slipped a pass to Ryan Hall who sprinted 70 metres to score and give Leeds a 30-0 lead going into the break.

Kevin Walters’ half time team talk certainly made his squad take notice, as within a minute of the restart Kane Bentley took advantage of poor Leeds play to open their account. They doubled their score a few minutes later when Oliver Elima broke through a weak tackle to score.

Scott Donald rounded off the scoring with 12 minutes remaining as the Rhinos moved to second in the table for at least another 2 hours
