Brown: Time is running out

Widnes captain Kevin Brown says the Vikings are running out of time to cement a top eight spot and need to go a winning run now.

Widnes defeated Castleford last night, their second victory in their past three games. The Vikings have moved up into seventh on the table.

Brown says now is the time for Widnes to mount a charge.

“We’re running out of time now,” he told Sky after the game.

“A couple of wins and we’re right up there. We want to start looking up instead of looking down.”

Widnes snapped a long losing streak two weeks against Huddersfield.

“We’ve been playing alright though,” Brown said.

“We’ve been losing games close, we’ve lost a lot of blokes. Our complete pack’s out at the minute.

“To come here and against a really good Castleford side and win is great character from the lads.

“We nearly blew them away at one stage and then I don’t know what happened. We came here and wanted the win and so we got that.

“It wasn’t pretty at times but credit to the young fellas, they were great.
