Featherstone half-back Kyle Briggs could be out for up to a month with a knee ligament injury.

Briggs, 25, suffered the injury in the Good Friday defeat to York, and had a scan on Wednesday.

It rules the former Bradford man out of Sunday’s Challenge Cup tie against Thatto Heath Crusaders, with Anthony England (hamstring) and Ian Hardman also on the sidelines.

Head Coach Daryl Powell said: “It’s fair to say that any players not 100% fit will not feature at the weekend especially as we play Doncaster on the following Thursday evening.

“Anthony England has a slight hamstring injury which may rule him out at the weekend but touch wood he should be fit for Thursday. Ian Hardman has slight knock too which may mean he will not feature at the weekend.

Sam Smeaton continues to work extremely hard in rehab but we still have no date expected for his return. The injury he sustained was one of the worst of its kind according to his specialist.

Kyle Briggs picked up a knee ligament injury at York on Good Friday. He had a scan yesterday (Wednesday) which we are awaiting results of but he could be potentially out of action for 4 weeks.”
