Newcastle have given full-back Lewis Young a new two-year contract.

The 24-year-old has scored 17 tries in 22 games for Thunder in League 1 this season.

Young said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at Thunder over the last few seasons so it was an easy decision to re-sign.

“It’s been a rollercoaster of a season this year but hopefully, we can kick on and secure promotion.

“We all want to be playing at the highest level we can so over the next two years, I hope we can make that step up and I can get to play in the Championship with Thunder.”

Thunder coach Simon Finnigan said: “I’m very please Lewis has re-signed with the club.

“He’s been an integral part of Thunder for quite some time now and he has been excellent for me since I arrived here.”
