York City Knights have announced the capture of AJ Towse and Myles Harrison on community dual-registration deals from Heworth ARLFC.

Outside back Towse and half-back Harrison, both 16, initially joined the Knights on trial for pre-season and have impressed enough to sign longer term deals.

The community dual registration terms mean that Towse and Harrison are available to train and play at both the Knights and Heworth.

Knights Head Coach James Ford said: “Both lads have demonstrated a very positive attitude towards their development and shown a good level of improvement across the board.

“Both of these young men are an absolute credit to the coaching staff at Heworth. We see both players as long term projects and it’s great that their development will also be supported by Heworth.”

Heworth Junior Coach Jason Kane said: “It’s really great to see two more of that team taking their game further and I’m proud to have been part of their journey, and I’m looking forward to seeing them take the next steps in their development.

“It just shows that all the years of hard work and dedication paid off.”

Both players featured for the Knights in their recent pre-season game at Featherstone.

Heworth Head Coach Scott Rhodes added: “I’m pleased for both players. They have shown a level of commitment and hard work around a Championship quality squad and they have been rewarded for it.”
