Workington add Patrick

Workington have added another former Whitehaven man to their ranks with the signing of centre John Patrick.

Patrick, who played his amateur rugby league with Cockermouth, joins an increasing number of former Haven players in the Town ranks, with the Cumbrians set to renew their rivalry in Championship 1 this season.

Club chairman Dave Bowden said: “Patrick shows a lot of promise which we believe will shine through.”

Meanwhile, Town boss Gary Charlton has admitted his side are short on fitness ahead of the Boxing Day friendly clash against Whitehaven, because of the big freeze.
