Willie Mason linked with Souths

Australian prop Willie Mason has been linked with a shock move to South Sydney.

Mason has been on the hunt for a new club after spending the 2015 season with Manly.

The veteran was in discussions with a move to Super League to join Catalans, but is believed his preference is to stay in Australia.

According to reports, Mason could now end up at the Rabbitohs.

South Sydney has let a number of players go to accomodate the return of Sam Burgess. One of those was former NSW front-rower Tim Grant, who joined the Wests Tigers.

Mason could be a like-for-like replacement for Grant in the Rabbitohs pack.

The ex-Bulldogs, Roosters, Cowboys, Hull KR, Newcastle and Sea Eagles enforcer turns 36 this year.

Mason could still end up at Catalans if he fails to land an NRL deal.
