Young Wakefield hooker Matthew Wildie has agreed a new two-year contract at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

Wildie, 20, has forced himself in to the first team picture this season, having graduated from the Wildcats academy.

He said: “I’m really happy to have signed another contract here, ever since I was a child all I have wanted to do is play for Wakefield and it’s fantastic that I’m finally living that dream.

“I’m looking forward to a great few years here and I hope I cement myself as first team regular. I’d like to thank everyone at the Club for giving me this opportunity.”

Wildie follows Frankie Mariano in committing his short term future to the club.

Wildcats Chief Executive James Elston added: “It’s fantastic to have Matty on board, he epitomises everything we want to do with the future of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and that is to sign and keep local home grown talent.”

“Matty has truly earned this extension and we look forward to seeing him become an established Wakefield first team player.”
