Wigan to face fellow Warriors

Reigning Super League and Challenge Cup champions Wigan have announced a friendly with NRL side New Zealand Warriors.

Shaun Wane’s men will visit the Waikato Stadium in Hamilton on February 12th, 10 days before they take on Sydney Roosters in the World Club Challenge at the Allianz Stadium.

The warm-up match will mean a chance for NZ Warriors pair Sam Tomkins and Thomas Leuluai to face their former club, although that is not Wane’s main focus.

He said, “Playing the Warriors in Hamilton will be a great experience for our squad and is excellent preparation ahead of our World Club game in Sydney.

“It is a trip we are all looking forward to and we are delighted to have been able to arrange this historic meeting between the two Warriors clubs in what should be a tough competitive work out.”
