Widnes have signed four players from Oldham ahead of the 2022 Championship season.

The Vikings have signed prop Tyler Dupree, hooker Dec Gregory, winger Ryan Ince and forward Liam Bent on one-year deals for next season.

Dupree, 21, has scored 10 tries in 18 appearances for the Roughyeds this season and is a former England Academy international.

DEPARTURES: Widnes announce eight departures

He said: “I’m buzzing to get started and looking forward to a full pre-season with the facilities at the stadium. I’m ready to compete and aim for the play-offs with the fans behind us and I can’t wait to meet the lads.”

Wigan-born Gregory came through Salford’s academy ranks and enjoyed spells with Rochdale and North Wales prior to his Oldham move in 2021.

Something special coming

He said: “It feels like there is something special coming together within the club. I’m delighted to be part of that. It’s a club enriched with history within rugby league and I can’t wait to get started.”

Ince came through the system at his hometown club Widnes and played for the Vikings in Super League. As a result, he gained representative honours for England Youth and England Academy whilst at the club. He scored 19 tries in 22 games for Widnes in 2019 before joining Leigh and then Oldham.

Ince said: “After leaving Widnes I never ruled out coming back. I enjoyed my time there and with it being my hometown club as well as coming through the system, it makes it feel a lot more like home for me.”

Bent, 23, came through the ranks at Salford and leaves Oldham having made almost 100 appearances for the club.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to the challenge ahead. I can’t wait to get started and hopefully have a big year with the lads. I’m hoping we can make it into the play-offs and contend for the top spots in the league.”
