Widnes have been dealt a blow as loose forward Hep Cahill has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an achilles injury.

The 31-year-old was taken from the field in the latter stages of their 19-6 defeat to Wakefield Trinity on May 25.

After seeing a specialist a couple of days ago, it was confirmed that Cahill will miss the rest of the 2018 season after sustaining an achilles injury.

Cahill joined Widnes from Crusaders in 2012 after starting his career in the NRL with Melbourne Storm, where he played nine games.

He has struggled with injuries this season, making just nine Super League appearances. Cahill has already started his rehabilitation and recovery process ahead of his return in 2019.
