Whitehaven sign Warrington winger

Whitehaven have announced the signing of Warrington winger Chris Fleming on a one-year deal.

The youngster, who had a spell with Whitehaven in 2011, scored a long range try in the 30-30 draw with local rivals Workington on Good Friday.

However, Fleming’s season came to an end on Easter Monday when he dislocated his shoulder against Oldham and subsequently returned to Warrington.

Despite missing the majority of the 2011 season through injury, Fleming impressed enough for Haven to offer him a deal for the forthcoming campaign.

Commenting on the signing, new Haven Chairman Ralph Calvin stated “We liked what we saw of the lad when he was here last time and it was unfortunate that he injured his shoulder.

“He had offers from other clubs but took to our fans and the place and expressed an interest in returning to Whitehaven. He’s got pace, can score tries and can also defend.”
