Whitehaven delighted with Widnes dual reg deal

Whitehaven general manager Amanda Hewer has spoken out in praise of the dual registration agreement that her club and Widnes have used in 2015.

Although the concept has come under fire from some quarters recently, Hewer believes that Widnes players like Ed Chamberlain, Ted Chapelhow and Grant Gore have brought huge value to Haven during their respective spells in Cumbria.

“Ed’s been a fantastic player for us for most of the year,” Hewer told the Vikings’ official website.

“He’s one of the most consistent players we’ve had this season and he’s a fantastic goal-kicker. Goal-kicking had been a worry for us at the start of the season but he’s stepped up and has been fantastic for us.

“I think the way we have used dual-registration has been different.

“We have had some one-off big names make appearances for us but the majority of players who have turned out for us have been youngsters who are looking to come through the system.”
