Wellens injury blow for St Helens

St Helens full-back Paul Wellens has been ruled out for a month with a calf injury.

Wellens, 32, suffered the knock in Friday’s 22-22 draw with Hull, and joins Lance Hohaia and Josh Perry on the sidelines.

Head Coach Nathan Brown told the BBC: “We’ve got some blokes in key positions that have missed games, which doesn’t help when you’re trying to get some flow.

“It happens to all teams at some stage of the year and we’re going through that stage at the moment.”

Saints were also missing inspirational hooker James Roby for the round two win at Widnes.
