Jake Connor v Leeds Rhinos

Jake Connor was awarded a drop-goal against Leeds Rhinos.

Huddersfield full-back Jake Connor was awarded a drop-goal during the 21-12 win over fellow play-off chasing Leeds Rhinos with footage emerging online.

Rohan Smith questioned the decision post-match, while Sky Sports have excluded the moment from their official highlights online.

Connor, 28, kicked the drop-goal on the 77th minute with his side holding an 18-12 lead.

Returning to the team, Will Pryce kicked his second penalty conversion in the final minute for the full-time score 21-12.

Winger Sam Halsall opened the scoring followed by tries from team-mates Kevin Naiqama and Tui Lolohea, before Leeds hit back through Luke Hooley and Ash Handley for a 16-12 score at the break.

But Pryce’s two penalties and Connor’s ‘drop-goal’ was enough for Ian Watson’s side to keep their slim play-off hopes alive.

Leeds boss Smith questioned some of the decisions made by the referee, including Connor’s second half drop goal.

The Rhinos have won just one in their last five games with the Giants now on joint-points on the table with 20, while Warrington regained their play-off spot following their 18-4 win over Hull at the MKM Stadium.

“The ruck was all over the place… it’s a complete lucky dip,” Australian Smith said post-match.

“There was a huge amount of spirit there [from Leeds] in the second half, including a drop goal that didn’t go through.

“The kicker [Connor] and all his mates were laughing that it didn’t go through.

“Everybody said it didn’t go through, except the decision-makers.”
