Warriors face vital clash

Liam Farrell has talked up the importance of Friday night’s game for Wigan (2/7 – Match Betting) as they Warriors prepare to host Huddersfield Giants (11/4) in the Betfred Super League.

The two sides meet at the DW Stadium in a game that neither side dare lose if they are to keep their Grand Final hopes alive.

Wigan ace Farrell says the side must step up and pick up a win if they are to have any chance of making the top four.

Following their defeat at Leeds last week and Huddersfield’s win over Wakefield, both sides are on 23 points in the Betfred Super 8s table, four points behind the last semi-final spot occupied currently by St Helens.

Wigan are 33/1 to repeat their Grand Final win of last season with Huddersfield at 100/1 , Castleford Tigers are the favourites at 11/8, and Farrell knows this weekend is vital.

He told Wigan Today: “Our problems in defence weren’t down to people jumping out of our system, it was down to attitude. And that’s what was so disappointing.

“We’re chasing fourth spot, where Saints are, and now it’s a case of trying to win our remaining games AND hoping other teams can do us a favour.

“In that sense, we’re in an unfamiliar position, and I can’t say I’m too comfortable with it. As players, we focus on what we can control, and we’ll continue to do that and hope – at the end – it’s enough to get a top-four spot.

“If it isn’t enough, we’ve only ourselves to blame.”

Odds subject to change.
