Warrington Wolves have confirmed that six players will leave the club upon the expiry of their contracts at the end of the season.

The club have announced that centre Peter Mata’utia, prop Thomas Mikaele and outside-back Greg Minikin will depart at the season’s end along with young duo Jack Darbyshire and Aiden Doolan.

It was confirmed earlier this season that long-serving hooker Daryl Clark would take up a three-year deal with Super League champions St Helens from 2024.

“A special presentation will be made following full-time of our final home game of the regular season against St Helens this Friday night where fans can show their appreciation,” a club statement read.

“We would like to thank all of our departing players for their effort and commitment during their time with the Wire and we wish them all the best in their next chapters.”

Warrington to bid farewell to six players

Former Samoa international Mata’utia linked up with Warrington ahead of the 2022 campaign from Castleford, making 54 appearances in primrose and blue. He is also part of the club’s leadership group.

Minikin arrived at the Halliwell Jones Stadium ahead of last season, recovering from an ACL injury to make his debut last July. He has played 20 times for the club and has been linked with a move to promotion-chasing Championship club Featherstone for 2024, as per Yorkshire Live.

Fan favourite Clark will be a St Helens player in 2024. The former Man of Steel winner has made almost 250 appearances for the Wolves, picking up the Lance Todd Trophy in Warrington’s Challenge Cup final triumph in 2019.

Clark will lead out the Warrington team as captain in his final home game on Friday night against his future club St Helens.

Samoan powerhouse Mikaele returned to Warrington last month on a short-term deal and has played 23 games across his two spells with the Wire. He will return to Australia upon the conclusion of the season.

Young pair Jack Darbyshire and Aiden Doolan, who both came through the club’s academy, will seek opportunities elsewhere for 2024.
