Wane to give everyone a chance

Shaun Wane will lead his troops for the first time since being installed as permanent Head Coach when Wigan face Hull KR at Craven Park on Sunday.

Wane has succeeded Michael Maguire, who left to return Down Under at the end of last season, and he has three pre-season games to analyse his squad ahead of the Warriors’ Super League opener against Huddersfield on February 5th.

Wigan will also face Huddersfield in Sean O’Loughlin‘s Testimonial game on Thursday January 19th, as well as Salford at the brand new Salford City Stadium (Tuesday January 24th).

Wane said: “All the lads will get a chance in the friendlies at some stage.”

Speaking to the local press, Wane also revealed that half-back Sam Powell will start against Hull KR on Sunday after impressing during training.

Powell has been working closely with Brett Finch and Thomas Leuluai, as well as new assistant coach Iestyn Harris.
