Wakefield have announced that Connor Bailey has signed a three-year deal with his hometown club.

The 18-year-old, who is currently a second-year scholarship player at Trinity, recently played for Yorkshire U18s in their victory over Lancashire U18s.

Bailey came through the Wakefield youth ranks and is comfortable playing a variety of positions, including, loose forward, centre, back-row and half-back.

On the contract, Head Coach Chris Chester said: “I have been watching Connor with interest all year.

“He impressed me in a reserve game at Hull at the start of the year when he played a very mature game for his age against strong Hull team.

“He has all the attributes to be successful in Super League and the challenge for Connor once he finishes his exams will be to make that transition over the next few years. I’m looking forward to working with him.”
