Widnes have confirmed Rangi Chase has signed a two year deal with the club.

The 31-year-old joined the Vikings on loan from Castleford earlier this season and has helped spark an improvement in form, winning three out of the five games he’s played.

Vikings have also announced that young hooker Danny Walker has penned a new four year contract.

Walker has been in impressive form this season, sparking interest from elsewhere, but the 18-year-old has now committed his future to the club.

Widnes’ boss Denis Betts said: “Both of these deals represent a real statement of intent by the Vikings, with two outstanding talents committing their futures to the club.

“Rangi has made a big impact since his arrival, contributing well both on and off the field. He has exceptional abilities and, as an international standard half-back, adds real quality to the team.

“We have seen in recent results the benefits of his skill and experience on the field. To permanently secure a player of his abilities is a sign of the club’s ambition.

“Danny is one of the most promising young players in the Super League. His commitment to a four year contract shows his belief in what we are building at the Vikings.

“We believe that Danny will be a big part of our future and I am pleased that he shares our ambitions by committing to this contract.”
