Two charged over Gleeson assault

Two men have been charged in relation to the assault which ended the career of former Hull KR and Salford centre Sean Gleeson.

The player was outside Wigan nightclub when he became involved in a verbal altercation with the two individuals. He was attacked with a bottle, and suffered damage to an eye.

Terrence Riley, 24, of Harrison Drive, Haydock has been charged with actual bodily harm and Lee Jones, 21, of Alder Avenue, Ashton-in-Makerfield, has been charged with grievous bodily harm.

The incident occurred at around 4am on Sunday, March 2.

Both will appear at Wigan magistrates’ court on Friday June 27.
