Tupou heads West

Former Bradford Bulls winger Tame Tupou has moved back to Australia in a bid to resurrect his failing career.

A lifeline has been handed by Wests Tigers, who have been linked with Tupou’s former Bulls teammate Sam Burgess in recent days.

The 26-year-old suffered several injury setbacks during his time in West Yorkshire, and was released at the end of last season.

Tupou was initially a replacement for winger Lesley Vainikolo after the latter swapped codes, and made an immediate impact scoring 10 tries in 12 games.

But knee surgery has hampered a return to playing fitness and then was served with a six-month notice period after losing his appeal against the Bulls terminating his contract.

A statement from Bradford said: “Bradford Bulls have agreed to the request of Wests Tigers to release Tame Tupou‘s registration with immediate effect.”
