Toronto game abandoned due to storm

Toronto Wolfpack registered their 19th consecutive victory – though it was cut short by thunder and lightning which forced a 74th minute abandonment against Rochdale.

The Wolfpack were home and dry at the time, leading 46-0 in front of 5,769 fans at Lamport Stadium.

The Match Commissioner and referees took the decision to call the game off in the 74th minute due to thunder and lightning in the area, with player and supporter safety the paramount concern.

As per RFL rules with over 60 minutes played the result will stands.

Bottom side Rochdale dug in to their credit in the first half, and only trailed 12-0 at the break – Gareth O’Brien scoring a try, a conversion and a penalty to put the hosts in front.

It was 26-0 by the hour mark, tries from Tom Olbison, Matty Russell’s second and Chase Stanley putting the result well beyond doubt.

Toronto had just scored through Stanley’s second when the players were taken off.
