Parramatta have signed Samoa international Tim Lafai on a New South Wales Cup contract.

The 29-year-old will join the Eels on a part-time NSW Cup contract, meaning he is not currently in the club’s top 30 squad but could potentially play for Brad Arthur’s side later in the campaign.

Lafai has been included in Parramatta’s squad to face St George Illawarra Dragons in a trial match on Thursday.

The centre, who was linked with a move to Super League earlier in the off-season, has earned 12 caps for his native Samoa and played for his country at the Nines World Cup in 2019.

Lafai has made 167 NRL appearances for St George Illawarra Dragons and Canterbury Bulldogs, scoring 50 tries.
