Tilse to remain at Rovers

Hull KR prop Dane Tilse is to stay at the club, having inked a one-year deal to play with the Robins in 2017.

The player has signed on for reduced wages, and is determined to help the club find its way back to Super League at the first attempt.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at the club since I joined and I was eager to stay next season and work under Tim Sheens,” Tilse told the Robins’ official website.

“I really want to play my part in getting this club back up into Super League where they belong.

“The hard work begins in pre-season training on Monday, so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in with the lads and meeting a few new faces.”

Rovers head coach Tim Sheens feels that Tilse’s experience is going to be vital in the Championship.

“I’ve not worked with Dane before but he’s a big, strong prop and we’ll need him to help lead the forwards next season,” he said.

“We’ll come up against some tough and physical forward packs in the Championship and Dane’s experience and leadership around the ruck will be a big asset for us.

“He’s a good character to have off the field too and he’s shown that by wanting to come back on board and help the club get back into Super League.”
