Team news: Salford v Leeds (Sun)

James Gordon

Early pace-setters Salford face the biggest test of their credentials so far as they welcome Leeds to the AJ Bell Stadium.

The Rhinos have had a difficult start under new coach Dave Furner, losing away at both of last season’s Grand Finalists – Warrington and Wigan.

Salford are unchanged for a third successive game as they look to follow up their impressive wins over Huddersfield and London.

Leeds are also unchanged, with Brad Singleton looking to make a return to the 17 having missed out last week, instead turning out on dual-registration for Featherstone.

Youngster Harry Newman, who scored two tries for the Rhinos Under 19s in their win over Keighley, has been named in the squad for both Leeds and Featherstone this weekend.

Gordon’s Gamble: Leeds have shown ability in patches and Salford found it easy against London. For either team to lead at half time and then lose at full time is 7/1.

Salford 19-man squad: Evalds, Welham, Sa’u, Bibby, Lui, Mossop, Dudson, Jones, Griffin, Flanagan, Lussick, Burke, McCarthy, Nakubuwai, Tomkins, Olpherts, Sio, Turgut, Hastings.

Leeds 19-man squad: Walker, Briscoe, Watkins, Hurrell, Handley, Lolohea, Myler, Cuthbertson, Parcell, Singleton, Merrin, Ward, Dwyer, Sutcliffe, Ferres, Peteru, Oledzki, Donaldson, Newman.

Salford come in at evens with Betfred, with Leeds priced at 5/6. A first golden point contest of the season is 22/1.
