Wakefield prop Taulima Tautai faces up to two months on the sidelines after having surgery on a broken and dislocated thumb.

Tautai, 25, has featured twice for the Wildcats since joining from NRL side Parramatta last month.

Wildcats coach Richard Agar said: “He’s had an operation and he’ll be out for six to eight weeks, which is a bit of a blow for us because he had made a particularly promising start.

“He’s gone really well in his first two weeks and is proving to be a really popular player.”

His injury is a blow to Wakefield, who have lost their last four Super League games.
