The Kiwi threequarter sustained a knee injury during the Super 8s, and underwent surgery at the end of last season.
“Fetuli Talanoa had a clean out within his knee towards the back end of the season just gone,” Radford told the Hull Daily Mail.
“When we obviously realised mathematically we couldn’t make the top four we decided to get that done.
“That way he was fully fit come the start of pre-season rather than wait until the end of the year and do the operation.
“We got it done in the Super 8s, which allowed him to do some rehab before going home. He’s now fit for the pre-season.”
