Swinton have signed former Wigan and Leigh back-rower Nick Gregson for the 2021 season.

The 24-year-old is a familiar face to Lions supporters, having made his debut for the club back in 2016 while on dual-registration from Wigan.

Gregson has recently been playing rugby union for Preston Grasshoppers, but he will return to league with Swinton in 2021.

Swinton coach Stuart Littler said: “I am absolutely delighted to be able to announce the permanent recruitment of Nick Gregson.

“Nick has spent time previously with us on dual-registration and on loan. He is a very versatile player who can cover several positions within our squad.

“Nick fits in with our recruitment plan and I know he cannot wait to get started with us. We competed with several clubs regards Nick’s recruitment and I am delighted to get it over the line. I’ve no doubt that Nick’s consistency in performance will get better and better with us.

“I am really looking forward to seeing him develop with us when normality resumes. I know Nick is very excited to get back on the rugby field and he will bring that enthusiasm to our organisation every week.”

Gregson added: “I’m really excited about re-joining Swinton Lions, who have a great young group of hardworking and talented players.

“After spending a year away playing rugby union, which was something that I enjoyed and benefitted from massively in my playing development, I felt like the opportunity to come back to league and with the Lions was something I couldn’t turn down.

“Now I am just looking forward to getting back into training and hopefully doing something special in 2021.”
