My Set of Six: with Warrington hooker Danny Walker featuring Ben Westwood and The Jungle

Drew Darbyshire

Warrington hooker Danny Walker is our latest guest on My Set of Six.

We’re asking you, the fans, plus players, coaches and other rugby league personalities to give us their answers to our set of six questions.

Favourite away ground?

The Jungle, Castleford. I love how old school it is and how the fans are right on top of you and give you a bit of stick! Plus the pitch is smaller so it suits my small legs.

Favourite player?

Super Bennie Westwood. He is an absolute legend.

Favourite memory?

Making my debut when I was 17 at Widnes comes close but I’ve always wanted to play for the Wire since I was five watching them in the stands at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, so my debut against Leeds is definitely my favourite. I came on at the same time as super Bennie Westwood so that’s pretty special too.

Worst memory?

It has got to be getting relegated from Super League when I was over at Widnes. I love the club and everything it stands for and when we got relegated it hurt so it has got to be that one.

Best match you’ve seen?

The 2015 NRL Grand Final between North Queensland Cowboys and Brisbane Broncos. It had everything. Johnathan Thurston hit the post with a kick and then nailed the drop goal, so there was just mad scenes in every moment of the game.

Your wish for the future of rugby league?

For everything to get back to normal and to get back playing with the fans there. Long-term, I would love to see it get as much exposure as possible and for everyone involved in the game to get the credit it deserves.
