The three-man shortlist for Super League‘s Young Player of the Year has been confirmed by the RFL.

Abrasive Wigan Warriors forward Ryan Sutton is on the list. The 21-year-old prop has carried for 1849 metres and made 16 tackle busts this season, scoring two tries.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats winger Tom Johnstone, also 21, who has scored some electrifying tries thanks to his electric footwork and pace this season, also makes the list.

Completing the trio is Matt Whitley of Widnes Vikings, a back rower who has made 785 tackles and scored six tries this season.

Players have to be under 21 years of age at the start of the season to be considered for the Young Player of the Year award.
