Supporters Direct will be holding their third annual Voice of the Fans Rugby League Conference this year on the morning of Saturday October 29 in Huddersfield.

The event will be held at Huddersfield University’s Heritage Quay, with the theme of this year’s event bring: Rugby League, Past, Present & Future.

The event is being run in conjunction with the RFL, and is intended to complement the England v New Zealand game being staged in Huddersfield on the same day.

Two keynote speakers are set to be announced alongside a panel of rugby league guests.

There will also be a question and answer session with a panel including a current referee and former player.

Two interactive workshops are also scheduled, with Helen Peacock from the Heritage Lottery Fund discussing the various projects which they fund, and how to access that funding.

She will also be looking at celebrating the game’s heritage, and Brigid Power will also be discussing the new National Rugby League Museum.

The second workshop will look at getting back to the basics of Supporters Direct’s key mission.

This is defined as being: “To help Supporters Trusts be as representative and as relevant as possible in the sport and help fans of RL benefit from a closer relationship between clubs and their fans and communities as well as providing a much needed direct link between supporters and the game as well as exploring the benefits of community-ownership.”

The day begins at 9.30am and runs to 1.30pm, allowing attendees plenty of time to get the England v New Zealand international at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Tickets for the event are free to those delegates who have already purchased a ticket to the afternoon’s Four Nations match between England and New Zealand, with a suggested donation of £10 for those not attending the match.
