Super League chief backs Widnes World Record Attempt

Super League General Manager Blake Solly has pledged his support to a world record attempt called the Big Viking Health Kick-off.

The Widnes club, in partnership with NHS Halton CCG and Halton Borough Council, will launch the campaign on Thursday February 5, the day of the Super League opener between the Vikings and Wigan Warriors.

The campaign is to raise awareness about the importance of knowing your blood pressure, and more than 2000 people have already registered to take part in the world record attempt at 11am, taking the form of a 10 minute light fitness programme.

Solly said: “It is great to be able to support Widnes Vikings, NHS Halton CCG and Halton Borough Council as they attempt to enter the Guinness Book of Records.  This Super League season ushers in a new era for the sport.  There would be no better way to start that new era than by breaking a world record and creating a fantastic atmosphere at the opening match of the season”.”

The current world record is 2958, recorded in China.

Local businesses, school children and Halton residents are already involved, and each person involved in the world record attempt will receive a free ticket to the Super League opener on the same night.

Individuals wishing to take part in the World Record attempt must sign up online as soon as possible and before the registration deadline at 12pm on Wednesday February 4th 2015.
