Stone expecting Broncos battle

Huddersfield coach Rick Stone is predicting a tough challenge against London tomorrow night.

The Giants host the Broncos on Friday evening.

“London have been good and they have got a real strong attacking ethos there,” Stone said.

“I thought their last performance against Leeds was full of merit and they challenged them the whole way, they also had a close game against Leigh and they put plenty of points on Batley.

“Each step we go now it gets progressively harder, we need to keep improving a little bit but I think we are slowly getting there and I can see it coming together in training.

“The way the draw has fallen for us has probably benefitted us and we can get some momentum together.”

Huddersfield have won back-to-back games over Batley and Featherstone.

“I think it will definitely be a step up from where we have been in the last couple of weeks, both teams can score some points,” Stone said.

“Our job is to improve defensively and just being able to absorb a bit of pressure.

“Overall we are getting there and learning to defend our goal line with a bit more resolve and urgency and hopefully we will be a bit better this week.”

Jermaine McGillvary and Danny Brough are back for Friday’s 19-man squad.

“We have had a couple of days back in and we are getting to a stage where our team is starting to come together,” Stone said.

“Hopefully Jerry will be fine for the game, he has trained pretty strongly over the last few sessions, which has been good.

“The main concern we have is Sam Rapira had a slight hamstring strain from the Batley game.

“We have got a couple of positions to sort out, obviously Broughy coming back into the team, the possibility of Jerry coming back makes for a few headaches but they are good problems to have and they are going to make our team stronger.”
