St Helens to face St George Illawarra Dragons ahead of World Club Challenge

Super League champions St Helens will face St George Illawarra Dragons as part of both the club’s pre-season schedule in 2023.

The fixture will take place ahead of St Helens’ World Club Challenge clash against Penrith Panthers, who lifted the NRL Premiership trophy in 2022.

It will also be a part of the Dragons’ pre-season ahead of their campaign Down Under.

The two sides will meet on Saturday, 11 February, in Wollongong with an 8:00pm local kick-off time (9am UK).

St George will then feature in the annual Charity Shield at Mudgee’s Glen Willow Stadium on Saturday February 18.

St Helens to face Penrith in World Club Challenge

History-makers St Helens will face NRL champions Penrith Panthers in 2023 on Saturday, 18, February, in the returning World Club Challenge.

The match will take place at the home of the Panthers, the BlueBet Stadium.

Channel 4 will broadcast the game live with a 7:00am UK kick-off time. The fixture will be a part of a double-header for the free-to-air channel. Hull KR take on Wigan live at 1pm in the opening round of Super League.

Meanwhile, the NRL confirmed its fixture list on Thursday morning UK time. The season will consist of 204 matches over 27 regular rounds. Round 1 kicks-off on March 2, with the Grand Final set to take place on Sunday, October 1.

Wayne Bennett’s Dolphins will make their NRL debut on March 5 against the Sydney Roosters at the Suncorp Stadium.

The 2023 State of Origin series will kick-off on May 31 in Adelaide. It will be followed by Game Two in Brisbane on June 21 and the final game in Sydney on July 12. It will also see the return of three Wednesday State of Origins for the first time since 2017.
