Soward backs Dixon for NRL

Outgoing London Broncos half-back Jamie Soward has backed homegrown winger Kieran Dixon for the NRL.

Dixon, 21, has been a shining light in two disappointing seasons at Twickenham Stoop, having made his debut in February 2012. He has gone on to score 36 tries in 50 appearances, and Soward has been impressed.

Soward told the BBC: “I’d like to see him in the NRL, so hopefully he is keen to come to Penrith one day. I will definitely be singing his praises when I get back.

“He has played fantastic for us although probably needs a bit more size.

“There are a couple of guys here who could make it in the NRL.

“It would be nice to see a few more blokes take the risk like the Burgesses and get out there and test themselves in the Australian game.”

Soward came to Super League in June after he was released by St George-Illawarra Dragons. He had already penned a four-year deal to join Penrith Panthers from 2014 onwards.

He has scored 51 points in eight games for the Broncos, but they will finish bottom of the Super League table if they fail to win at Hull KR on Sunday or Salford win their final game against Widnes.
