Kiwi half-back Jeremy Smith is set to make his Wakefield bow against former club Salford at the weekend.

Smith, 29, has seen his Wildcats debut delayed by visa problems, but his application has now been approved and his registration ratified by the RFL, meaning that he is now available for selection.

Born in Huntly, New Zealand, Smith has earned three international caps and also played for Aotearoa Maori in the 2000 World Cup.

He made 45 appearances for Salford in a two-year spell at The Willows before signing a one-year deal with the Wildcats for 2011.

During his time in the NRL, Smith played for Parramatta Eels and South Sydney Rabbitohs.
