Ashton Sims will start for Fiji

Warrington forward Ashton Sims is eagerly awaiting the clash with Brisbane Broncos in the World Club Series for more reasons than one.

The Broncos travel to the Haliwell Jones Stadium to face the Wolves on Saturday 18 February before Wigan entertain NRL Grand Final winners Cronulla a day later.

“It’s exciting to potentially have the chance to play my brother Korbin,” he told loverugbyleague.

“I’ve been to the Broncos I know what the system’s like up there and I think he’ll really flourish up there.”

Korbin Sims joined Brisbane earlier this month from Newcastle reportedly taking a huge pay cut, but his older brother Ashton believes it displays the joy he gets from the sport.

“A lot of players wouldn’t do that and it just shows how serious he is about Rugby League and how much he loves it,” he said.

“I know money plays a big part in our sport but there’s still a lot of passion and a lot of desire to play not just because of the financial gain.”

Super League teams have failed to record a win over the NRL teams at the World Club Series in recent years but Sims wants that to change starting this year.

“We want to give Super League something to be proud of,” he said.

“We’ve definitely highlighted this game as a big match and one to get our season going.”
