Sheffield Eagles sign Petersen on loan

Sheffield Eagles have reinforced their forward pack by signing former Hull Kingston Rovers player Dave Petersen on a month’s loan from Bradford.

Petersen, 23, left Rovers after the 2012 season to play for the Mackay Cutters in Australia. He has also played some League 1 rugby this season with Oxford.

“He is looking sharp and he trains at 100% so when you have got that attitude then it is easy to fit in,” Eagles coach Mark Aston told sheffieldeagles.com.

“He is a smart kid so he has picked things up very quickly, so he has fitted in really well so far.

“He will fetch with him a boat load of enthusiasm and he reminds me a lot of Misi Taulapapa, and we all know the strengths of Misi.

“He wants to play so there will be plenty of enthusiasm from Dave and quality too.

“I have watched him over the years from his time with Hull KR in Super League, and then in Australia before he came back.

“We tried to get him in pre-season before Bradford snapped him up so he is someone we have been interested in for a while.”
