Shaun Edwards: “Listening to Lammy talk…I want to buy a Season Ticket!”

Wigan Warriors hosted their first press conference today with both of their new head coaches, Adrian Lam and Shaun Edwards.

Adrian Lam, 47, will be the Warriors head coach in 2019 and Shaun Edwards, 51, will take over from 2020.

Both having previous with Wigan – Lam playing for the cherry and whites from 2001-04 and Edwards cementing his legend status between the years of 1983-97.

Both men sat alongside Wigan’s rugby director, Kris Radlinski and club chairman, Ian Lenagan to answer questions on their appointments.

Lam expressed his delight at becoming the Wigan coach, even if that is just for 12 months.

He said “I knew I was always going to come back here one day” and it was this belief that sealed the move, as he added “some of the best times of my life [where] here, to be honest”.

Lam also expressed his desire to reinvigorate the Warriors attacking play, saying “I can make a difference here in 12 months, throw a bit more attack in the team and there will be a difference in the style of footy here.”

Upon hearing Lam discuss his intent, his eventual successor, Edwards sat alongside him, expressed his excitement, saying “Listening to Lammy talk…I want to buy a season ticket!”

Followed by a plea to supporters, “Buy a season ticket!”
